Michael Thomas Jackson  -  The Disasters of Mysticism

The Disasters Of Mysticism is
a multi-track tape composition completed in December, 1998. It may be listened to as
a standalone work, as it is here, or in conjunction with any number of
instrumentalists with a conductor and a set of semi-specific instructions. It is
from a series of compositions inspired by the paintings of Chilean-born artist
Roberto Matta. Other works in this series include Splitting The Ergo (for solo
percussionist), Doubt's Pilgrim (for solo oboe), Prescience (for orchestra), The
Couple (for viola and 'cello) and To Give Painless Light (for chamber ensemble).
Clicks, pops and analogue tape hiss are an integral part of the composition which
should be listened to at a relatively low volume and without the aid of headphones.
