noisefloor and noisefloor.org are the creation of Andrew MacGregor. Born in 1959, Andrew quickly became fascinated and acquainted with electricity and electronics. He built his first electromagnet at age 7. When showing his parents what he had assembled, they remarked "What's an electromagnet?" He built his first audio-producing "speaker" before he turned a teen. He has been obsessed with recording and audio reproduction since he was a small child. His first tape recorder was a 1960's Aiwa reel-to-reel with tiny reels of 1/4" tape perhaps 2" in diameter, and a crystal microphone. Today, Andrew uses many types of consumer and professional audio equipment to capture events as diverse as pipe organ recitals and sacred choral performances to found industrial noise and computer-fractal-generated musical compositions fed to and performed by his pipe organ. Andrew currently resides in Central Ohio - October, 2005
