Scrawn - Delayed Reactions
Scrawn is the sonic alter ego of London based artist Steve Cornford. This is my debut. I developed an aversion to synths from the moment I started making digital noise (which I am only just beginning to recover from). By recording sounds personally I was physically involved with the source material and each sound resonated in a way that no generated wave could. I have always relished 'found materials' for their potential as sculptural objects, these tracks document my discovery of found sounds.
All the source material was recorded onto minidisc using a single stereo microphone, each track being constructed from a single location. I used effects and structure as equivalents to my response. Both to the spaces where the recordings took place and the experience of making them.
